Berlin Tasting Panel Posted by grant Wednesday, 2008-May-14 In an effort to involve more people in the selection for potential Cadenhead bottlings we have decided to have different Tasting Panels try out the selection of whiskies that have been selected. The Tasting Panels will decide if the whiskies are of a sufficiently excellent quality and make tasting notes for these whiskies. This is our Fourth event and was held through our shop in Berlin (Germany) and was a great success with 12 people tasting and giving their opinions on 8 (There should of been 9 but unfortunately one broke in my suitcase....) whiskies which are potentially being bottled by Cadenhead’s in June. The Tasting panel consisted of: Grant Macpherson Kristina Wolf Steffi Zöllner Andreas Dether Dr. Reinhard Ellinghaus Dr. Klemens Schubert Neil Chalmers Werner Hertwig Dirk Pittelkow Hartmut Dahms Elmar Völkel Klaus Pinkernell Tasting Notes will follow shortly: In future I will be visiting our other Cadehead shops to carry out similar events for other guests of the shops. Our U.K. shops will not be forgotten and will also be included in the Tasting Panels.

Thanks, Ed Congratualtions Pete and Marna Posted by ranald Friday, 2008-May-02 Everyone at J&A Mitchell wants to say a big congratulations to Springbank's sales executive Peter Currie and his fiancee Marna Diack, who got married last Saturday. In weather that could have come straight from the Carribbean, Pete and Marna tied the knot on the beach at Machrihanish before enjoying a reception in the warehouse at Glengyle Distillery! Pete and Marna also run Breaks Surf Shop here in Campbeltown, so their wedding day managed to combine both of their interests. The couple are currently enjoying their honeymoon in the Dominican Republic. Congratulations again from all at the company. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Springbank (and Longrow) goes to Jutland! Posted by kate Tuesday, 2008-April-29 After my tasting in Copenhagen on the Tuesday I got up very early the next morning (thanks Jakob!) and got the train through to Jutland to meet Søren from Juul's to continue the Spingbank and Longrow tastings. First stop Aalborg where we had an-store tasting at H.J Hansens then it was back onto the highway heading North to Frederikshavn where I was doing a tasting for Jens at Vinoble. We had 42 people and, with the exception of me and the ladies from Vinoble, not a woman among them! Whisky is obviously still a man's drink up North! ![]() ![]() Thursday saw us back in Aarhus where we had an in-store tasting at Skjold Burne Vinhandel ![]() Then back on the road (lot of driving this trip!) to Herning where we had a big tasting in the evening for Uhrskov Vinhandel. Some photos of the tasting and also one of me with Anders, Kristain and Ulrik from Uhrskov, cheers guys! ![]() ![]() ![]() Herning Whisky Laug Posted by kate Tuesday, 2008-April-29 During my trip to Jutland I met Sven Nordgaard (obviously a man of great taste and discrimination since he had come to my Springbank and Longrow Tasting!) Sven runs the Herning Whisky Laug. Now unfortunately all the information he gave me about it was in Danish so I can't really tell you much more about it. However if you live in the area and are interested in whisky then I'm sure his website would be worth a look. Here's a photo of the man himself so you know who you're speaking to. ![]() Longrow Whisky Tasting in Copenhagen Posted by kate Tuesday, 2008-April-29 Last Tuesday I arrived in Copenhagen to do the first Longrow only whisky tasting in Denmark for our importer Juuls Vinhandel. Me and the cask samples I had forgotten to send all arrived safely. I even had the chance to wander around in the sun for a while before the tasting started. Yes, you read that right, summer had arrived in Denmark just in time for my visit! The tasting on Tuesday night was held in Hansen's Køkken & Bar and attracted over 100 people eager to discover the new Longrow bottlings. The Longrow 18yo was so popular that we had to have a raffle to decide who could get the last 6 bottles! ![]() ![]() Previous page | Next page
